Project overview:
We’re expanding Abto’s R&D capacity with a hands‑on engineer who loves exploring new tech, rapidly prototyping, and turning ideas into value. If you’re a curious builder—maybe a mature developer eager to dive into new domains like AI/ML—this role is for you.
Hard skills:
- Mindset over tenure: strong willingness to learn, experiment, and iterate > years of experience;
- Solid software fundamentals: you can design, code, debug, and review in at least one general‑purpose language (e.g., Python, TypeScript/Node.js, C#) and are comfortable with Git and modern DevOps basics;
- Rapid prototyping skills: you can go from idea → minimal demo in days, not weeks;
- Analytical thinking: familiarity with experimentation, basic statistics, and A/B‑style comparisons; ability to define measurable success criteria;
- Communication: clear written English and the ability to present findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Nice to have:
- Exposure to AI/ML (e.g., scikit‑learn/PyTorch/TensorFlow, LLM tooling, vector search) or data/ETL pipelines;
- Experience with cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) and containerization (Docker), simple CI/CD;
- Familiarity with APIs & microservices (REST/GraphQL), backend frameworks, or serverless;
- Comfort reading technical papers/blogs/specs and replicating results;
- Background in optimization, computer vision, NLP, simulation, or control systems.
Responsibilities:
- Explore & validate new ideas across areas such as AI/ML, optimization, data processing, and simulation—scouting feasibility, risks, and business impact;
- Prototype quickly: build PoCs/tech spikes (usually in Python/TypeScript) and evolve promising ones into production‑ready components;
- Evaluate solutions: design small experiments, define success metrics, run benchmarks, and document results clearly;
- Collaborate cross‑functionally: work with product/engineering to translate vague problems into testable hypotheses and actionable tickets;
- Integrate & harden: package prototypes behind APIs/services, add tests/CI, and hand off cleanly to delivery teams;
- Communicate learnings: write concise docs/RFCs, present demos, and share best practices with the wider team.
